Townshend is a small, beautiful town in Vermont. Most of the area is rocky and mountainous in this town; thus, its population has not significantly increased within the past few centuries. i.e., since 1791.
Overall, the land is beautiful, and travelers are encouraged to explore the land. Most of the land is occupied by the Govt.
There is a famous old park in Townshend known as the state park. The park includes a famous gazebo known as Chewy Chase Gazebo.
The gazebo has been there for about 35 years. That was built in 1988, hence has become an important factor in the park’s legacy. For the past 35 years, the gazebo has been constantly under debate.
In 2016, a drunk guy, while passing nearby, unintentionally hit his BMW in the gazebo, and the gazebo was damaged. Since then, no one was allowed to go into the gazebo, as there were chances to collapse at any moment.
As the gazebo had become a part of the legacy of the park and had been there for more than 30 years, there was a long controversy on whether the gazebo should be repaired, or it should be torn down, and build new gazebo, etc.
In the last meeting, it was inferred that the previous gazebo should be taken down, and a new gazebo should be built in the park.
Different builders already portray ideas of designs for the new gazebo, and it is to be taken down on Thursday at 05:00 a.m. Many people are against the idea of demolishing the old gazebo. They say that the gazebo should be repaired, but most people think it is better to rebuild the gazebo.
The town Clerk Ellenka Wilson said: “It was discovered that it was unstable. Some of the wood at the base was rotten.”
